There are parts of your kitchen that are easy to <\/span>forget about<\/span>, <\/span>like<\/span> the bottom of your cupboards or the space above your refrigerator.<\/span> However, that extra bit of real space on top of your fridge can go a long way if you know how to use it. Here\u2019s how you can utilise that space.<\/span><\/p>\n

Keep things out of reach<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Perfect if you don\u2019t have a pantry. <\/span>You can utilise the top of your refrigerator to keep items out of reach for children, maximising the space above<\/span>.<\/span> These out-of-reach things can include candy, alcohol, or other items you don\u2019t want your kids to be able to access. <\/span>Smaller items, such as candy, can be easily<\/span>\u00a0corralled together into a decorative basket to keep them looking tidy<\/span>.<\/span> A<\/span> simple but useful way to use the space above.<\/span><\/p>\n

Use to dry herbs or veggies<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

If you need to leave your herb produce out to dry for several days, you can use the refrigerator\u2019s top as a drying spot, taking advantage of the heat and airflow from the fridge. <\/span>Place them on a sheet of paper in <\/span>any<\/span> basket tray atop the <\/span>fridge<\/span> in a single layer<\/span>, and cover them with a paper towel to keep them safe.<\/span><\/p>\n

Store bulky items<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

The top of the fridge can also be a great spot for bulky items that are hard to store elsewhere. However, be sure to place one or two bulky items, as you don\u2019t want to overload your refrigerator. These items can be placed neatly on top of the fridge, but always be mindful of the weight.<\/span><\/p>\n

Add baskets<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Baskets are <\/span>such an easy<\/span> way to store <\/span>lots<\/span> of smaller items on top of the fridge.<\/span> Try using a pair of matching baskets to store all the kitchen stuff. Just make sure the baskets aren\u2019t so big that they block access to nearby cabinetry. You can even label the containers with a large font to ensure you can quickly see each container\u2019s contents.<\/span><\/p>\n

Use it to store your cookbooks<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Cookbooks should be in the kitchen, as they can be hard to find around your house. <\/span>To avoid <\/span>them<\/span> cluttering your office bookshelves, try <\/span>to create<\/span> a cookbook shelf.<\/span> What better way than to use the space above your refrigerator? Keep them above the fridge. You can use open shelving or enclosed cabinet shelving to store all your favourite recipes and kitchen guides. <\/span>The top part of the fridge <\/span>is<\/span> easy access when you\u2019re cooking<\/span>, <\/span>and can double as d\u00e9cor.<\/span><\/p>\n
